I placed 2nd in my age group in the Be My Valentine 5K this morning, and I got the 1st place trophy. Why? The woman who won the Female Masters trophy (fastest woman among all runners age 40+) was in my age group. I guess the race directors figured the Masters Winners had their own trophies, so then they awarded the age group trophies to the next three people, and my 2nd place time became 1st place in the 40-49 age group. Best of all, I got a PR of 26:35, and I haven't been running. With a more regular schedule, I could keep improving my time. (Update: Results)

I checked my time against those in other age groups. I would've been 12th in the 20-29s, 7th in the 30-39s, and 4th in the 50-59s. Those 50+ gals rocked it!

...but I kicked it past a particular runner in the last tenth-mile because she looked like she might be in my age group.
