Back when I was single (after CDs and before cell phones), I ate cereal for dinner all the time. And I liked it.
Lately, Dave's been busybusybusy, and I'm too lazy to cook, so the cereal's made a comeback. The trick now is that most cereals taste too sweet -- even my old mainstay, raisin bran. So I'm trying some new flavors...
Kashi GoLean Crunch: too sweet.
Special K: too fragile. Basically just Rice Crispies in flake form. Good with strawberries.
Total: good, plain flavor. Slightly more hearty than Special K. Good with bananas.
May switch back to my other old mainstay, GrapeNuts. Very hearty. A little goes a long way.
Or may mix my own muesli from the bulk bins. Less processed. Bound to have good fiber content.
Anybody else a cereal fan? What kinds do you like?

8 ate pie:
Cereal is a big ol' standby for me when I'm feeling lazy or just too busy. My vote for a not-too-sugary cereal that goes well with fruit is Product 19. Yum!
I LOVE cereal for dinner. My faves are Product 19 and Cracklin Oat Bran, but whenever I eat the latter, I feel like I'm eating Scooby snacks.
I'll confess, I have had cereal as all three meals in one day before. And now that we're back on the farm, lunch is the main meal and supper is whenever we can grab something fast, so I'm going through lots of cereal lately. The honey roasted Honey Bunches of Oats are my current favorite, but the homemade granola recipe in The Pastry Queen cookbook is also fantabulous.
When my husband is gone for the evening, I eat the strangest, laziest things. Why I have never turned to cereal, I don't know. I really like Rice Krispies.
I'm a loyal fan of Crispix because of its versatility as traditional cereal (all meals), party mix (individual servings are sometimes dinner), and crumbs for breading.
My eye has been wandering recently to Paul Newman's cereal line called "Sweet Enough" No HFCS, all natural, and not overpowering. My favorite so far as been the Vanilla Almond. Yum!

My problem is that I LIKE the super-sweet cereals - if there's a box in the house I'll inevitably eat the whole damned thing within 2 or 3 days. It's like sugary crack, swimming in a nice bowl of milk...
I'm not a cereal person, but I used to love Cocoa Krispies and Mueslix.
I'm usually too tired or busy to cook, and I'm a fan of microwaveable meals and takeout.
Anna + Jody - Two votes for Product 19? May have to check it out.
Sarah - ooo, granola is so yummy.
Missed - maybe you don't crave protein over carbs at dinner?
Mike - they make my teeth hurt! But I used to LOVE Lucky Charms (which only my grandmother would buy - not Mom or Dad).
Medeia - I have a German friend who eats all the Cocoa Krispies he can while he's here.
