Early Bird Workout

A couple weeks ago, I mentioned we might start getting up early to run.

We did it today -- got over to a local park by 7:30 to do fartlek runs. It was nice and cool, and it feels good now to have done it. We need to wake up about an hour earlier to have relaxed showers and breakfast before work at 9:00.

But I'm glad we did it. Will try again for our next run: hill repeats.

Have you changed up your exercise routine lately? Seen any benefits -- mental or physical?

I am really trying to convince myself to run before work. I'm so exhausted after teaching all day (end of the year with 8th graders? Ninth Circle of the hot place, my friend!).

But that means I'd have to get up at 5am and I don't know if I'm quite ready for that...maybe being "sturdy" until the summer isn't so bad after all. ;)

You know what? We get up now around 6:15, instead of 7:30, and even though that's only an hour and change, Dave says it feels like he's discovered 2 extra hours in the day.

It's freaky. But it's SO NICE to reach the end of the workday and know there's nothing else hanging over our heads. Just making dinner together and hanging out.

You should try it!
