As in, get yer ass out there + hike.
We went out to Government Canyon State Natural Area today. For years we've been griping, "San Antonio has no trails!" (I'll catch flack for that, 'cause of the Mission Trail, but it's in the city - not exactly a wilderness experience). So Gov't Canyon opened in October - 8,600 acres of former ranch land, with at least 20 miles of trails thru hills, canyon, creek beds, ridges - an awesome place to hike, which we did today for 4 hours...

Not a whole lot more rugged than Mission Trails, but San Antonio is developing a "linear parks" system along several of the creeks that run through her.
Ah! I just need to do my research. I'll check the city parks + rec site for info, unless you know of a better source...
Thanks!
